It's Lylo, of course! And he's not for sale but for all our Owl On Hook viewers and crochet enthusiasts to crochet and make themselves 😃. This is an easy crochet pattern perfect for beginners. Create and help us share Lylo with the world.

Materials

  • Milk cotton yarn 4 ply
  • 2.5 mm crochet hook
  • 9 mm safety eyes
  • Stitch marker
  • Scissor
  • Needle
  • Fiberfill stuffing
  • Charm for collar (optional)

Abbreviations (U.S Term)

  • mr = magic ring
  • rnd = round
  • sc = single crochet
  • inc = increase (2 sc in each st)
  • dec = decrease (2 sc together)
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • ch = chain
  • rep = repeat

HEAD

In brown yarn.

Rnd 1: Mr, sc 7 = [7] 
Rnd 2: Inc in all 7 st. = [14] 
Rnd 3: (Sc in next st, inc) x 7. = [21]
Rnd 4: (Sc in next 2 st, inc) x 7. = [28]
Rnd 5: (Sc in next 3 st, inc) x 7. = [35]
Rnd 6: (Sc in next 4 st, inc) x 7. = [42]
Rnd 7: (Sc in next 5 st, inc) x 7. = [49]
Rnd 8: (Sc in next 6 st, inc) x 7. = [56]
Rnd 9: (Sc in next 7 st, inc) x 7. = [63]
Rnd 10-22: Sc in all 63 st. = [63]
Rnd 23: (Sc in next 7 st, dec) x 7. = [56]
Rnd 24: (Sc in next 6 st, dec) x 7. = [49]
Rnd 25: (Sc in next 5 st, dec) x 7. = [42]
Rnd 26: (Sc in next 4 st, dec) x 7. = [35]

Attach safety eyes 9 mm between rnd 14 and 15, leaving 9 stitches (count 8 holes) between them.

Start stuffing the head with fiberfill stuffing as you continue.

Rnd 27: (Sc in next 3 st, dec) x 7. = [28]
Rnd 28: (Sc in next 2 st, dec) x 7. = [21]
Rnd 29: (Sc in next st, dec) x 7. = [14]
Rnd 30: (Dec) x 7. = [7]

Stuff the head firmly with fiberfill stuffing.

Sl st in next st and fasten off. Leave a long yarn tail. Thread the tail through a needle and weave the needle through the front loop of each of the 6 st. Pull the yarn tail to close the hole. Insert the needle through the middle of the hole and pull through the top.

Fasten off and weave the end in. 

SNOUT

In off white yarn.

Rnd 1: Ch 4, in the 2nd st from hook, 2sc in next st. Sc in next st. 4sc in next st. Sc in next st, 2sc in next st. = [10]

Rnd 2: (Inc in next 2 st). Sc in next st. (Inc in next 4 st). Sc in next st. (Inc in next 2 st). = [18]

Rnd 3: (Sc in next 5, inc) x 3. = [21]
Rnd 4: Sc in all 21 st = [21]
Rnd 5: (Sc in next 6, inc) x 3 = [24]
Rnd 6: Sc in all 24 st = [24]

Fasten off and leave a long yarn tail for sewing. Stuff the snout firmly. Sew the snout onto the head between rnd 15-21. Refer to image 1.

NOSE

In black yarn.

R1: Mr, sc 3. Ch 1, turn. = [3]
R2: (Inc in next st.) Sc in next st. (Inc in next st). Ch 1, turn. = [5] 
R3: Sc in next 2 st. (Inc in next st). Sc in next 2 st. = [6] 
R4: Working along the side. Sc in next 2 st. Sc in the center. Sc in next 2 st on the side. = [11] 
R5: Sc in all 11 st. = [11]

Fasten off and leave a long yarn tail for sewing. Stuff the nose firmly. Sew the nose onto the snout between rnd 1-3. Refer to image 2.

MOUTH

Using black yarn, sew a straight line downward on the snout from the center of the nose between rnd 1-3. Refer to image 3.

CHEEK

Using pink yarn, sew cheek on the side of the face, 3 rows below the eyes, 2 st apart. Refer to image 4.

EAR x 2

In brown yarn.

Rnd 1: Mr, sc 6. = [6]
Rnd 2:  Inc in all 6. = [12]
Rnd 3: (Sc in next 2 st, inc) x 4. = [16]
Rnd 4: Sc in all 16 st. = [16]
Rnd 5: (Sc in next 3 st, inc) x 4. = [20]
Rnd 6:  Sc in all 20 st. = [20]
Rnd 7: (Sc in next 4 st, inc) x 4. = [24]
Rnd 8-15: Sc in all 24 st. = [24]
Rnd 16: (Sc in next 4 st, dec) x 4. = [20]

LEG x 2

Start stuffing the leg with fiberfill stuffing as you continue.

Rnd 9: Sc in next 8 st. (Dec x 6). Sc in next 8 st. = [22]
Rnd 10: Sc in next 7 st. (Dec x 4). Sc in next 7 st. = [18]
Rnd 11-17: Sc in all 18 st = [18]

Stuff the leg firmly. Sew the leg onto the body between rnd 7-15. Sew on the inner side of the leg at rnd 13 to fasten the leg against the body. Refer to image 6.

HAND x 2 

In brown yarn.

Rnd 1: Mr, sc 6. = [6] 
Rnd 2: Inc in all 6 st. = [12] 
Rnd 3: (Sc in next, inc) x 6. = [18]
Rnd 4-20: Sc in all 18 st. = [18]

Start stuffing the hand with fiberfill stuffing as you continue.

Rnd 21: (Sc in next 7 st, dec) x 2. = [16]
Rnd 22: (Sc in next 6 st, dec) x 2. = [14]
Rnd 23: (Sc in next 5 st, dec) x 2. = [12]
Rnd 24: (Sc in next 4 st, dec) x 2. = [10]
Rnd 25: Flatten, sc both sides together.

Fasten off and leave a long yarn tail for sewing. Stuff the hand firmly. Sew the hand onto the body between rnd 22-26. Sew on the inner side of the hand at rnd 8 to fasten the hand against the body. Refer to image 7 & 8.

TAIL

In brown yarn.

Rnd 1: Mr, sc 6. = [6] 
Rnd 2: (Sc in next 2 st, inc) x 2. = [8]
Rnd 3: Sc in all 8 st. = [8]
Rnd 4: (Sc in next 3 st, inc) x 3. = [10]
Rnd 5: Sc in all 10 st. = [10]
Rnd 6: (Sc in next 4 st, inc) x 3. = [12]
Rnd 7-10: Sc in all 12 st. = [12]

Start stuffing the tail with fiberfill stuffing as you continue.

Rnd 11: Sc in next 5 st. (Dec). Sc in next 5 st. = [11]
Rnd 12:  Sc in all 11 st. = [11]
Rnd 13: Sc in next 4 st. (Dec). Sc in next 5 st. = [10]
Rnd 14: Sc in all 10 st. = [10]
Rnd 15: Sc in next 4 st. (Dec). Sc in next 4 st. = [9]
Rnd 16: Sc in all 9 st. = [9]

Fasten off and leave a long yarn tail for sewing. Stuff the tail firmly. Sew the tail onto the body between 9-11. Refer to image 9.

COLLAR

In green yarn.

R1: Ch 4, in the 2nd ch from hook, sc in each st. Ch 1, turn. = [3]
R2-49: Sc in all 3 st. Ch 1, turn. = [3]
R50: Sc in all 3 st. = [3]

Fasten off and leave a long yarn tail for sewing. Place the collar around the neck and sew both ends of the collar together.
