Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same st. * [(hdc, dc, ch 1, tr, ch 1, dc, hdc) all in next st. Sc in next st.] Rep * 3 more times. (hdc, dc, ch 1, tr, ch 1, dc, hdc) all in next st. Sc in next st. Sl st to the previous sl st.
Fasten off and weave in end. Make a 2nd star repeating rnd 1-2 and leave a long yarn tail for sewing.
With the wrong side of the stars facing each other, sew both stars together.
Note: The right/correct side of the star should be facing outwards.
Insert a small toothpick into the bottom center of the star to be used when fixing the star onto the top of the Christmas tree. Then insert the star to the top of the tree.
Refer to Image 6.
If you prefer to hold the star and all 11 layers of the tree altogether, you can use a long bamboo stick instead of a toothpick.
Simply insert the bamboo stick through the top center starting from the 11th layer all the way up to the 1st layer. Then insert the star at the top end.
TREE ASSEMBLY
Starting from the 11th layer, stack each layer on top of the other in descending order to form the shape of the Christmas tree.
Hooray! You have completed The Cupcake Christmas Tree!
