Jovial Mitten

Free Mitten Crochet Pattern

While basking in the chilly weather by the beach in picturesque Danang, my hands quickly became cold. That gave me an instant inspiration to get busy with my crochet hook. Voila! My crocheted hand mittens were born right from my hotel room balcony overlooking the wide sandy beaches and rolling waves.

I called it the Jovial Mitten to represent the laughter and joy of company with new friends made at the pubs nearby, having dinner and sharing travel adventures with each other. Luckily I always bring some yarn and my crochet hooks wherever I travel solo around the world.

The simpler front and back post double crochet ribbing pattern around the wrist represent the intertwine mix of foreign and local folks all coming together after years of covid-abstinence, with a couple of beers and great vibe.

The intricate Alpine stitch pattern that helps to clasp the yarn closer around my palm represent the simple yet sumptuous Vietnamese cuisine and coffee that, over the past few days, have formed a unique bond to my heart.

Cheers to all my new pals at Danang. I hope this crochet pattern will bring us all together again soon. Looking forward to my next solo adventure again! Destination...Europe!
