Cute dinosaur crochet pattern

Materials

  • 4-ply milk cotton yarn
  • 2.20 mm crochet hook
  • 8 mm safety eyes
  • Stitch marker
  • Scissor
  • Darning needle
  • Toy stuffing (fiberfill)
  • Black embroidery thread

Abbreviations (U.S Term)

  • rnd = round
  • sc = single crochet
  • inc = increase (2 sc in each st)
  • dec = decrease (2 sc together)
  • sl st = slip stitch

Finished Size

  •  Approximately 5.5" / 14 cm tall including horn

Notes

The head and body of the Dinocorn is crocheted continuously without sewing.

In green yarn.

Rnd 1: Start 6 sc in a magic ring. [6]
Rnd 2: Inc in all 6 st. [12]

Rnd 4: (Sc in next 2 st, inc in next st) x 6. [24]
Rnd 5: (Sc in next 3 st, inc in next st) x 6. [30]
 
Rnd 6: (Sc in next 4 st, inc in next st) x 6. [36]
Rnd 7: Sc in all 36 st. [36]
 
Rnd 8: (Sc in next 5 st, inc in next st) x 6. [42]
Rnd 9-10: Sc in all 42 st. [42]
 
Rnd 11: Sc in next 10 st. (Sc in next 2 st, inc) x 3. Sc in next 4 st. (Inc, sc in next 2 st) x 3. Sc in next 10 st. [48]
 
Rnd 12-19: Sc in all 42 st. [48]
 
Rnd 20: Sc in next 10 st. (Sc in next 5 st, dec) x 2. (Dec, sc in next 5 st) x 2. Sc in next 10 st. [44]

Insert safety eyes between Rnd 12 & 13, 9 st apart.
 
Stuff the head firmly.

BODY

Rnd 22: Sc in all 40 st. [40]
 
Rnd 23: (Sc in next 9 st, inc in next st) x 4. [44]
Rnd 24-25: Sc in all 44 st. [44]
 
Rnd 26: (Sc in next 10 st, inc in next st) x 4. [48]
Rnd 27-28: Sc in all 48 st. [48]
 
Rnd 29: (Sc in next 11 st, inc in next st) x 4. [52]
Rnd 30-32: Sc in all 52 st. [52]
 
Rnd 33: (Sc in next 11 st, dec) x 4. [48]
 
Start stuffing the body as you continue.
 
Rnd 34: (Sc in next 4 st, dec) x 8. [40]
Rnd 35: (Sc in next 3 st, dec) x 8. [32]
Rnd 36: (Sc in next 2 st, dec) x 8. [24]
Rnd 37: (Sc in next st, dec) x 8. [16]
Rnd 38: (Dec) x 8. [8]

Sl st in next st and fasten off, leaving a long yarn tail. Stuff the body firmly.
 
Thread the yarn tail through a needle and weave the needle through the front loop of each of the 8 st.
 
Pull the yarn tail to close the hole. Insert the needle through the middle of the body and pull through.
 
Fasten off and weave the end in.

CHEEK x 2

In light pink yarn.
 
Rnd 1: Start 6 sc in a magic ring. [6]
 
Fasten off and leave a long yarn tail for sewing. Sew the cheek on the face between rnd 15 & 16.

MOUTH

Using black embroidery thread, sew the mouth between on rnd 14, 4 st apart. Refer to image 1.

STOMACH

In white yarn.

Rnd 1: Start 6 sc in a magic ring. [6]
Rnd 2: Inc in all 6 st. [12]
Rnd 3: (Sc in next st, inc in next st ) x 6. [18]
Rnd 4: (Sc in next 2 st, inc in next st) x 6. [24]

Fasten off and leave a long yarn tail for sewing. Sew the stomach on the body between rnd 23-31.


HAND x 2

In green yarn. 

Rnd 1: Start 8 sc in a magic ring. [8]
Rnd 2-5: Sc in all 8 st. [8] 

Do not stuff the hand. Fasten off and leave a long yarn tail for sewing. Sew the hand on the side of the body between rnd 23-25.

LEG x 2

In green yarn.
 
Rnd 1: Start 6 sc in a magic ring. [6]
Rnd 2: Inc in all 6 st. [12]
Rnd 3: (Sc in next st, inc in next st ) x 6. [18]
Rnd 4-5: Sc in all 18 st. [18]
 
Stuff the leg firmly.
 
Fasten off and leave a long yarn tail for sewing. Sew the leg on the side of the body between rnd 31-35.

TAIL

In green yarn.

Rnd 1: Start 6 sc in a magic ring. [6]
 
Rnd 2: (Sc in next 2 st, inc in next st ) x 2. [8]
Rnd 3: Sc in all 8 st. [8]

Rnd 4: (Sc in next st, inc in next st ) x 4. [12]
Rnd 5: Sc in all 12 st. [12]
 
Rnd 6: (Sc in next 2 st, inc in next st ) x 4. [16]
Rnd 7: Sc in all 16 st. [16]
 
Rnd 8: (Sc in next 3 st, inc in next st ) x 4. [20]
Rnd 9: Sc in all 20 st. [20]
 
Rnd 10: Sc in next 8 st. (Inc in next st) x 4. Sc in next 8 st. [24] 
Rnd 11: Sc in all 24 st. [24]
 
Stuff the tail firmly.
 
Fasten off and leave a long yarn tail for sewing. Sew the tail on the back of the body between rnd 26-33.

HORN

In yellow yarn.

Rnd 1: Start 6 sc in a magic ring. [6]
 
Rnd 2: (Sc in next 2 st, inc in next st ) x 2. [8]
Rnd 3: Sc in all 8 st. [8]
 
Rnd 4: (Sc in next st, inc in next st ) x 4. [12]
Rnd 5: Sc in all 12 st. [12]
 
Stuff the horn firmly.
 
Fasten off and leave a long yarn tail for sewing.

Sew the horn on the top of the head between rnd 4-7.

SPIKE x 5 in different colours

Rnd 1: Start 6 sc in a magic ring. [6]
Rnd 2: Inc in all 6 st. [12]
Rnd 3-4: Sc in all 12 st. [12]
 
Do not stuff the spikes. Fasten off and leave a long yarn tail for sewing.
 
Arrange the spikes on the back of the body, positioning them between the top of the head and the tail. Sew the spikes accordingly on the body. Refer to image 2.
